The famous American artist, sculptor, designer, and architect Daniel Arsham was influenced by two things. First, he was born color-blind and perceived only 20% of colors from the norm of an ordinary person. Second, at the age of 12, he witnessed the devastating hurricane Andrew, which turned his house into rubble. Therefore, Arsham’s creations are literally saturated with a tragic ash spirit. As if he does not create his art in a modern New York City but in Pompeii after the eruption of Vesuvius.
The artist’s unusual style attracted the attention of the great choreographer Merce Cunningham and the famous musician Pharrell Williams. For the first, he designed the scenes. For the second, he made an elaborate musical keyboard Casio MT-500 (from volcanic ash, crystal, and steel). Now Daniel is the superstar with whom Dior, Adidas, and many other excellent brands have partnered.
On December 22, he released his third NFT collection on Nifty Gateway. The first two, Eroding and Reforming Bust of Rome (One Year) and Eroding and Reforming Digital Sculptures, averaged 6X in value. The new one is still inferior to them (4X). It might be because people think more about gifts than investments at the end of the year. Or generative art, on which you can earn more, is to blame. And the threshold of entry is also less. For Arsham, it starts at $ 1,000 per token. This is the price of contemporary art and a big name.
