Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales has put up the first version of the online encyclopedia at Christie’s auction as a non-fungible token (NFT).
Bidding will last until December 15. Along with the January 15, 2001, Wikipedia homepage token, the iMac from which Wales first launched the encyclopedia was put up for sale as well ($2,400 and $600, respectively).

The project’s co-founder will direct the proceeds to charity and his own social network WT.Social.
After the sale, the Wikipedia home page will be posted on the Internet. Five minutes after editing, it will revert to its original state. The owner will be able to restrict access to the page or prohibit its editing.
